Our Beginnings

Founded and built in 1999 by Russ Walker, Alaska Timberframe is a small shop focused on providing the ultimate in quality and service. From the beginning, the company has remained committed to craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach.  As a result, every project reflects the needs and vision of the client. We offer custom design and build services to develop a home that fits your lifestyle and dreams. Additionally, we can work with an architect of your choosing and collaborate closely to ensure the design meets your structural and aesthetic goals.

Today, Sammy Walker, owner and timberframer, oversees all aspects of your home's design and construction. From the initial concept development through milling, joinery, raising, and enclosing, this continuity throughout the process helps maintain a high level of quality control. Each project is approached with care. Our high standards ensure that materials, layout, and craftsmanship align with the client’s expectations.

We are located in Homer, Alaska, at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. We invite prospective clients to visit us, meet the craftsmen, and see how a timber frame takes shape firsthand. Experiencing the process in person provides valuable insight into the level of precision and care that goes into each structure.
